Pet Euthanasia

Sad Puppy

We are an open-admission shelter and accept all dogs and cats surrendered to our facility. We work closely with rescue organizations and humane societies to save as many pets as possible.

Owners electing to have their pets humanely euthanized due to a medical condition must check in at the Receiving office.

Please note: If the dog is not owned/registered by the person requesting the euthanasia, the pet's owner must provide the person bringing in the animal to the shelter a photocopy of their driver's license and a notarized authorization letter granting the person permission to have the animal put to sleep.

Pet owners should note that any animal that enters the shelter automatically becomes parish property after four days and we are authorized to euthanize that animal.
