Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park is your place to connect with nature, featuring a visitor center with hands-on activities, live animal exhibits both indoors and out, and almost 5 miles of nature trails.
Trained staff and Volunteer Naturalists offer year-round programming that engage all ages in outdoor learning to create awareness, appreciation, and knowledge of the natural world. Offerings include a wide-variety of public programs, special events, and camps. We also offer field trips, presentations, and birthday parties by request.

Junior Naturalist Program - Become a Junior Naturalist! Explore the ecology of our forests. The mission of the Junior Naturalists’ Program is to bring together natural resource specialists with young people, ages 7-12, to foster an understanding and appreciation on Northwest Louisiana’s plants, water, soils, and wildlife, and to promote good stewardship. A special award is given upon graduation. Workshops are held on one Saturday and one Tuesday every other month and can be made up when they are offered again. Babes in the Woods-For children ages 2 & under and their caretakers. Babies and toddlers will see, hear, smell, and touch nature all around them as we stroll along the trail. Feel free to bring lunch or a snack to enjoy afterwards. First Thursday of every month at 10am. Rain or shine. No need to pre-register.
Nature Storytime-Join Park Naturalists for a special nature storytime. Children will explore a different nature topic through stories, songs, games, crafts, nature walks, and close encounters with live animals.Second Thursday of every month at 10am. No need to pre-register.
Field Trips, Presentations, or Birthday Parties by Request
Walter B Jacobs Memorial Nature Park offers nature education programs by request. You can schedule field trips, birthday parties, and other programs for your group at the park or invite us to present a program at your site or host a booth at your event. Programs are free of charge and are scheduled by request on a first come, first served basis.
