Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Receive Top Honor

The Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Department is the recipient of one of the Louisiana Recreation and Parks Association’s (LRPA) highest honors.

The Department was awarded the Class II Top Humanities and Arts Park Award.  The award recognizes the most innovative and effective park program delivered by a leisure service agency in the State of Louisiana.  The Class II designation encompasses all parks within a municipality/metro area with a population up to 200,000 residents.

“We are honored to accept this award on behalf of Caddo Parish and its residents,” said Henri Wesley, Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Director.  “We strive to provide an enjoyable and educational experience to every resident that enters one of our parks.  Caddo Parish truly has some of the most beautiful and remarkable parks in the State,” said Wesley.

Caddo Parish currently operates fourteen (14) park sites situated on over 1,200 acres throughout the Parish. Caddo Parish park amenities include recreational and camping facilities, hiking, biking and horse trails, educational classes and workshops and athletic events. In addition to these park sites, Parks and Recreation staff also provide assistance to multiple municipalities for events such as Christmas on Caddo, Gusher Days, the Vivian Red Bud Festival and a multitude of other events.

The award was presented by the LRPA at their annual conference in Baton Rouge on March 9.
