Caddo Parish Celebrates National County/Parish Government Month

Caddo Parish has celebrated National County/Parish Government Month (NCGM) during the month of April to showcase how the parish is building a healthy, vibrant and safe community through innovative efforts in managing justice and public safety systems, fostering conditions for economic growth, strengthening infrastructure and pursuing many other efforts to improve residents’ quality of life.

The theme for this year’s celebration of NCGM is “Brilliant Ideas at Work,” showcasing how parishes are trailblazing new approaches to seize opportunities and overcome community challenges.

Featured NCGM events have included public tours of the Parish’s facilities, including the Caddo Parish Courthouse. Commissioners also participated in a “Job Shadow Day”, allowing local students in the parish the opportunity to shadow them as they performed various functions related to their roles as Commissioners.  Students participated in lunch; a question and answer session and presentations with Parish department heads and administration, and a tour of some of the Parish’s facilities and buildings.  In addition, the Parish will celebrate National Shelter Pet Day with a free family friendly event designed to educate residents about the shelter and adoption at the Caddo Parish Animal Shelter (CPAS) on April 29.

“The Parish of Caddo is proud of the programs and services provided to our residents,” said Parish Administrator Dr. Woodrow Wilson, Jr. “Our efforts combined with efforts of parishes and counties across the country are helping American communities to thrive. I encourage all Caddo Parish residents to learn more about how the parish can assist you and your families,” said Wilson.

Since 1991 the National Association of Counties (NACo) has encouraged counties and parishes across the country to raise public awareness and understanding about the roles and responsibilities of counties.
