CADDO PARISH PARKS AND RECREATION ANNOUNCES SUMMER PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES
In an abundance of caution and to continue to keep Caddo Parish citizens safe this summer during the COVID-19 pandemic, Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation has announced creative virtual, online programs/activities and social distancing fitness programs for youth, adults, and families.
“In spite of the pandemic, we feel the diverse slate of programs and activities offered by our Parks and Recreation Department this summer will still provide great opportunities for all of our resilient Caddo Parish youth and families,” said Caddo parks director Patrick Wesley.
The Parish is utilizing the accessibility of social media to provide interactive programming of nature activities, fitness and wellness activities and more. Events can be streamed live and on demand from the Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Page (facebook.com/caddoparks) beginning June 9. Programs and activities include virtual field trips, nature programs, social distancing fitness activities (Zumba, chair aerobics, nutrition), athletic and recreation programs, online educational resources for K-12 and families and STEAM for K-5.
In addition to the interactive programming, all Caddo Parish public parks, green space, trails, walking paths, and restrooms will remain open daily throughout the summer from 6:00am – 9:00pm. Walter B. Jacobs Nature Park will be open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 8:00am – 5:00pm, and Sundays from 1:00pm – 5:00pm. The Walter B. Jacobs visitor center remains closed to the public.
