ART IN THE PARK RETURNS FOR 2021
CADDO PARISH, LA- Art in the Park, an annual celebration of art and nature, returns in 2021 after a brief hiatus due to COVID-19. Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Department will host the event at Walter B Jacobs Memorial Nature Park, 8012 Blanchard Furrh Road, Shreveport, LA on Saturday, November 6 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. Visitors are invited to enjoy art, music, and food in the beautiful autumn woods at the nature park. Admission and all art activities are free and open to the public.
Art in the Park features more than 25 local and regional artists who find inspiration in nature and depict nature in their work, or use natural materials as their medium. Visitors will find a wide variety of art for sale, from paintings and photography, to stone tools and pottery. Artists provide live demonstrations throughout the event in flintknapping, pottery throwing, pine-needle basket weaving, painting, needle-felting, and more.
Art in the Park will feature Red River National Wildlife Refuge, Girls Scouts of Louisiana Pines to the Gulf, and volunteer naturalists of Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park, who will lead art activities for all ages. Visitors can expect to create their own twig weaving, watercolor painting, handmade cards, and clay sculpture.
Live entertainment will include Bethany Sorkey and Chris Webb performing bluegrass, folk, and country music from noon to 2:00pm, followed by Cajun folk music and storytelling from 2:00pm-4:00pm featuring Marsha and Monty Brown. The Hot Dawg Hut and Sweetport will sell refreshments.
