ADMINISTRATION
About the Administration
The Parish of Caddo is located in the Northwest corner of the
State of Louisiana, which is the only state in the nation that
refers to area political subdivisions as parishes rather than
counties. Caddo Parish operates under a Home Rule Charter
adopted by the voters that became effective in 1984.
As provided by the Home Rule Charter, our parish operates
under a "Commission-Administration" form of government. The
Caddo Parish Commission is composed of twelve (12) elected
Commissioners and constitutes the Legislative branch of the
parish government. A Parish Administrator, appointed by the
Commission, is the Chief Executive Officer and head of the
Executive Branch.
The
Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operations
of eight (8) parish departments, i.e., Parish Attorney,
Department of Finance, Facilities and Maintenance, Public Works,
Parks and Recreation, Fleet Services, Animal & Mosquito
Control and Human Resources. Citizens of Caddo Parish provide
funding for the operation of the Parish through taxes which
have been instrumental in generating a current operating
budget of approximately $42 million.
Core Values:
- Integrity - Service - Excellence
Vision Statement:
- The Parish of Caddo organization is an organization that is on a journey going from "Good to Great".
Mission Statement:
- Committed to redefining excellence in governmental services and setting new standards of performance and service delivery
- Committed to providing our citizens and investors with cost effective services which give them the best return on their tax dollars - while improving quality of lives
- Committed to expanding the capacity of the organization through the development of our most valuable assets - “our employees”
- Driven and motivated by our passion to achieve excellence in all that we do
- We believe that excellence is not only valuable – it is priceless
- The primary reason for us being here is to serve the citizens of our community; it’s about them and not us!!
The Executive Branch strives
to operate with a philosophy of cooperation and compromise.
Our parish is separated from Bossier Parish by the Red River
which is also the boundary between Shreveport and Bossier
City. The gaming industry, with four successful casinos
located on Red River, has spurred a very positive economic
impact on both parishes and the two cities. Our area is fast
becoming a tourist destination. Caddo Parish works to
cooperate with and assist the other political bodies of this
compact area to support endeavors that can produce opportunity
and a positive economic impact.
We would welcome your personal visit to Caddo Parish and
Northwest Louisiana, or your inquiries through our web
site
directed to the Administration or any related operation.
