Welcome to the Caddo Office
of the Parish Attorney
The Office of the Parish
Attorney was created and established pursuant to Section 5.07
of the Home Rule Charter of the Parish of Caddo. The Parish
Attorney serves as the chief legal advisor to the Caddo Parish
Commission, the Parish Administrator, and all offices,
departments, boards and agencies of the governmental unit of
the Parish of Caddo.

construction contracts; drafting, preparing and negotiating
individual construction contracts; professional services

A: No. The Office of the
Parish Attorney cannot represent or give legal advice to
individual citizens of Caddo Parish. The Office of the Parish
Attorney only represents the Parish of Caddo as a governmental
entity.

A: No. Child support, hot
checks and criminal matters are handled by the District
Attorney for the First Judicial District Court, Caddo Parish,
Louisiana.

Q: If I received a traffic ticket and need to pay a fine, can
the Parish Attorney help me?
A: No. Tickets and fines are
handled by either the City Marshall’s Office (673-6800) or the
Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office (681-0622).

Q: Can I find out the status of a pending lawsuit or confirm a
hearing date by calling the Parish Attorney?
A: No. You need to contact
the Caddo Parish Clerk of Court (226-6780)regarding lawsuits
and hearing dates in the First Judicial District Court; and
the Shreveport City Court Clerk (673-5800) regarding lawsuits
and hearing dates in the Shreveport City Court.

Q: What is adjudicated property and where are adjudicated
properties located?
A: Adjudicated property is
property that has been forfeited to municipalities and/or
parishes for the nonpayment of taxes by the previous owner of
record. Approximately 8,700 adjudicated properties are located
throughout Caddo Parish.

Q: Can the Office of the Parish Attorney assist me in the
purchase of adjudicated properties?
A: Yes. Adjudicated
properties will be sold on a bid basis. The property will be
conveyed to the person and/or entity with the highest bid. The
Parish of Caddo has the ability to waive any all prior taxes
and other charges associated with such properties.
