General Employment Information

Thank you for your interest in employment with the Parish of Caddo. We are a professional organization committed to meeting the challenging needs of Caddo Parish and its residents. We have many types of positions available at the Parish of Caddo. For a more detailed description of each position please visit the Post ion Types Section.

While the Parish of Caddo has certain minimum qualifications for employment, applicants are considered for job openings without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or any other legally protected status.

Our selection process involves several steps and each step is vital in helping us to select dedicated individuals to serve the Parish of Caddo. Honesty and patience is critical in this period.

Minimum Qualifications for Consideration of Employment

  • Citizen of United States or possess a visa permit which allows employment
  • Must be over the age of 18 unless hired through the summer youth / student worker program
  • High School diploma if required by position
  • Valid drivers license if required by the position

Selection Process

Several steps are involved in the selection process. You may expect the process to take several weeks. Successful completion of all steps involved does not guarantee that you will be employed. The Parish of Caddo reserves the right to discontinue the process at any time without notification to the applicant as the reason why. The steps in the process are as follows:

  • Submit signed, original application
  • Meet minimum qualifications
  • Meet required qualifications for specific position
  • Skills tests
  • Interviews
  • Substance Abuse Screen
  • Medical Examination (if necessary to determine physical ability to perform essential functions of position)

Q: What positions are currently open?

A: Job openings are posted in the Human Resources Department, all other Parish Departments, and are mailed to a variety of related entities. In addition, job openings may also be advertised in the classified section of the local newspaper. For a list of job openings, click here or call the Job Line at 429-7627.

Q: How do I apply?

A: You will need to submit an original, signed application for employment with the Human Resources Department of the Parish of Caddo during the time the job is open. Applications must be received on or before 12:00 noon on the last date of the opening unless otherwise noted. Applications received after this date may not be considered.

Note: When submitting an application for a specific position, please pay particular attention to qualification requirements. Remember, your application describes your qualifications so make sure it is complete by answering all of the questions.

Remember, too, that related volunteer experience may count and should be treated just like any other type of experience; be sure to put it on your application so you can get credit for it.

Q: What happens after I submit an application?

A: When the job closes, all applications will be screened for the required qualifications. Applicants meeting the required qualifications may be tested and or interviewed depending on the job opening. In addition, some positions may require a medical examination to ensure physical ability to perform the essential functions of the position. All final applicants will be required to pass a substance abuse screen. Applicants testing positive for unauthorized drugs will not be considered for employment.

Q: Will you accept an application from me at other times?

A: Yes, applications are accepted at any time Monday through Friday between 8:00 and 4:45.

Q: Will my application be pulled and considered for future openings?

A: No, only those applications submitted for a specific opening will be considered. However, if you have previously submitted an application and a new position becomes available contact us while the position is open and we will pull your application for consideration. Remember, due to the large volume of applications received it is your responsibility to contact us for consideration of a specific opening if you have previously submitted an application.

Q: I applied for a job, why haven’t I been contacted?

A: If you did not meet the minimum qualifications you will not be considered for the job. In addition, if you cannot be located then you cannot be contacted for further consideration. Make sure we have your current address and telephone number. For revisions to your application, you may contact the receptionist in the Human Resources Department at 226-6906.

Q: Where do I park when I come to your office?

A: Parking is optional in the downtown area. You may park on the street at a meter or you may choose to park in a privately owned parking lot. In addition, there are several locations within walking distance that you may park for free such as the riverfront area and the area in front of the Municipal Auditorium. Human Resources will not be responsible for any parking tickets you may incur.

Q: Will I be notified if I am not going to be considered for a position?

A: No, due to the large volume of applications we are not able to notify you of your application status.

Q: If I am interviewed and or tested for a position but not selected will I be notified of the reason I was not selected?

A: No, the reasons you may not be selected for a position with the Parish of Caddo are confidential. All testing and interview material will be kept in strict confidence.
